East Tennessee State University
Dr. Kinser is Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication. She recently completed her ten-year term as Director of Women's Studies; she has been at ETSU since 1997. She has had the opportunity to lead the Women's Studies Program from 2000-2010, to build its B.A. degree, to mentor Communication and Women's Studies students as agents of social change, and to contribute to diversity-related initiatives on campus, particularly as they relate to women.
She now has the great privilege of heading the Department of Communication, which trains majors and minors in Mass Communication, Speech & Human Communication, and Theatre & Dance. The Department also offers a master's degree in Professional Communication. Kinser's work inside and outside the classroom is focused on the relationship between communication and gender, on communication in close relationships, and on celebrating and improving women's lives. She considers it a supreme privilege to be able to learn with, and be challenged by, ETSU students in the classrooms she shares with them. |
